Compared to last report: Trade activity and demand were moderate to good.
Retail hay demand were steady.
Dairy and Export hay demand were moderate.
In Northern San Joaquin Valley, growers baled their first hay.
According to the NASS field crops, In the Sacramento Valley, heading
out in wheat fields progressed.
Most rice field planting was delayed, but some planting began.
In the San Joaquin Valley, cotton planting began.
Dry bean fields were prepped and planted.
In Tulare County, wheat, alfalfa, oats, and barley continued to grow well.
Some fields were cut.
Winter grains were treated for pests, and herbicides and fungicides were
applied.
Cotton fields were prepared for planting, with a few fields already planted.
In Stanislaus County, corn was sprayed with herbicides.
The next available hay report will be Friday, May 03, 2024.
