DTN WEEKLY ROUND UP:   Business was done in dribs and drabs throughout 
most of week. Southern live sales were at mostly $202 to $203, $3 to $4 
lower than the prior week's weighted averages, while Northern dressed 
deals were done at mostly $320 to $322, $5 to $7 lower than the previous 
weeks weighed average basis Nebraska. According to Thursday's Daily 
Direct Slaughter Cattle Negotiated Purchase Summary reports, weekly 
accumulated weighted averages were as follows, (the prior week's weighted 
averages are listed in parentheses). KS $202.65($205.89); NE 
$320.51($327.20); TX $203.00 ($205.86); IA $321.06($326.13); CO not 
available due to confidentiality. 

The Friday Afternoon Daily Direct Slaughter Cattle report lists week-to-
date trade volume totals as: KS 8,412; NE 14,743; TX 2,534, IA 8,056; CO 
NA due to confidentiality. Friday's slaughter totaled 103,000 head, 3,000 
more than the prior week, but 17,000 less than a year ago. Saturday's 
kill was estimated at 4,000 head, bringing the weekly total to 561,000 
head, 23,000 below the previous week, and down 47,000 from 2024. The 
weekly average for boxed beef cutouts and boxed beef cuts: choice 
$319.46(-7.32), select $310.45(-5.40), with an average choice select 
spread of $9.01(-1.92), and a total load count including cuts, trimmings, 
and grinds of 627(+04), (Changes from the prior week are listed in 
parentheses).

For the week ending February 08, 2025, Imported Beef Passed for Entry in 
the U.S. totaled 53,702, 93.06% of the previous week and 96.16% of the 4-
week average. 

DTN MORNING COMMENTS: It will likely be a typically quiet Monday, as both 
packers and producers are busy preparing for the week ahead. Bids and 
asking prices are yet to be established, and significant trade volume 
will likely be delayed until much later in the week. Beef cutouts are 
expected to be lower with generally light box movement.
